The condition of a man has improved after police say he was shot by his father last week in Vancouver.

After more than a week of being listed in critical condition, Matthew Luster, 23, was upgraded to satisfactory condition Wednesday, according to hospital officials at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He remains in the intensive care unit.

According to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office, Danny Lee Luster, 49, shot and killed his wife, Sandra Luster, 49, and the family’s dog on June 9 at their home, 13007 N.E. 52nd St., in Vancouver’s North Image neighborhood.

Danny Luster also reportedly shot his son Matthew Luster in the abdomen. Danny Luster was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the report.

Neighbors heard the struggle and gunshots at about 5:20 a.m. and called 911. Vancouver police officers responded and are continuing to investigate the incident.
