Visitors can shred sensitive documents, recycle or donate all sorts of other stuff, and adopt a new pet all at one site on Saturday.

The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is hosting a Reduce, Reuse and Adopt event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its ReTails Thrift Store, 5000 E. Fourth Plain Blvd.

Bring up to two boxes of paper to shred for free via Cintas Paper Shredding; you can also recycle electronics, plastic bags, Styrofoam and more. Donations of households items, books and gently used clothing to the ReTails store are also being accepted. Information about the local Bagley Downs Neighborhood Association and the upcoming relocation of the Habitat for Humanity store will also be available.

Interested people can adopt a pet and arrange all necessary services: spay or neuter surgery, microchip ID and national registration, vaccinations, veterinary exam, animal training information and low-cost pet insurance options.

Animals are always available for adoption during shelter hours, noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, at the Humane Society shelter and headquarters at 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave. For a list of all animals currently available for adoption, visit southwesthumane.org, or call 360-693-4746.
