Fishing report 6/19

Bonneville pool is open again Friday and Saturday for the conclusion of the scheduled summer retention period for sturgeon. Anglers averaged a keeper per six boat rods and 17.6 bank rods last Friday and Saturday.

Trout fishing is good in Swift Reservoir. Trollers were catching 9- to 10-inch fish last weekend fishing with 2 ounces of weight at 17 to 35 “pulls.”

Summer chinook catches should improve as the run builds a bit in the next week.

Angler checks from the Washington (WDFW) and Oregon (ODFW) departments of Fish and Wildlife:

Lower Columbia — Estuary, 15 boaters with five steelhead kept and two released. (WDFW)

Westport, Ore., to Portland, 97 boaters with eight adult spring chinook, one jack chinook and 12 steelhead kept plus five adult chinook, one jack chinook, five steelhead and one sockeye released; 121 Oregon bank rods with one adult spring chinook, one jack chinook and four steelhead kept plus one adult chinook, one steelhead and five sockeye released. Cathlamet, 36 boaters with 10 steelhead and three chinook kept plus two steelhead and one sockeye released; 64 bank rods with nine steelhead kept plus two steelhead and one sockeye released. (WDFW)

Longview, 248 boaters with 11 adult chinook, three jack chinook and 32 steelhead kept plus 20 adult chinook, 13 steelhead and three sockeye released; 161 bank rods with 14 steelhead and one chinook kept plus three steelhead and one sockeye released. (WDFW)

Columbia Gorge (downstream of Bonneville Dam), 106 boaters with eight adult spring chinook, two jack chinook and one steelhead kept plus 18 adult chinook, two jacks and two sockeye released; 99 boaters with 725 shad kept. (ODFW)
