Planned lane closures on the southbound Interstate 5 Bridge will begin 30 minutes earlier than previously announced tonight as crews continue maintenance work, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The left and center lanes of the span will be closed from 10:30 p.m. tonight to 4:30 a.m. Thursday, according to ODOT. The right and center lanes during the same time Thursday night into Friday, in addition to the ramp from state Highway 14 to southbound I-5.

The sidewalk on the southbound side of the bridge will also be closed to bicycles and pedestrians from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. both nights, according to ODOT.

The closures will allow crews from both Oregon and Washington to complete a variety of projects, including electrical work, inspections, catwalk improvements, cleaning, striping and barrier repairs.

At least one southbound lane will remain open at all times during the work. The closures will have no impact on the northbound side of the I-5 Bridge.
