Battle Ground City Manager John Williams won’t be leaving Clark County for a job with the city of Pasco anytime soon.
Williams was a finalist to be the Central Washington city’s next city manager, and he headed out there last week to meet with the community and sit through a closed-door interview with city officials. But the Pasco City Council voted Monday night to hire Fife City Manager Dave Zabell instead.
Williams was one of four finalists for the job. In addition to Zabell, he was competing with two candidates with similar experience levels from North Las Vegas and Flathead County, Mont. A fifth candidate dropped out last week before beginning the interview process.
