Drug traffic detectives arrested a man Tuesday who they say was running a drug house in Hazel Dell.

After receiving complaints of heavy traffic at a house, 1205 N.W. Westridge St., detectives with the Clark-Vancouver Regional Drug Task Force began an investigation.

Surveillance confirmed the pattern of activity consistent with drug trafficking and while watching the residence Tuesday, detectives witnessed a man deliver methamphetamine a short distance away from his home, according to drug task force Cmdr. Mike Cooke.

The man, Mychal D. Block, 26, was arrested for suspicion of delivery of a controlled substance. Another resident of the house, Kevin Scott McCracken, 49, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. Both were booked in the Clark County Jail.

“Neighborhood drug houses are actually some of our more difficult cases to investigate,” Cooke said in a release. “Very often the drug transaction takes place inside the home so it’s difficult for us to make a case when we don’t see the transaction happen. In this case the activity was so brazen that we were able to watch the drug deal happen in public view in the neighborhood. If the illegal activity at this house doesn’t stop, we’ll be back.”
