TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE’S 2014 YOUTH APPS CHALLENGE

Students from River HomeLink in Battle Ground, and others from 10 middle and high schools throughout Western Washington, were winners in a statewide competition this month in Seattle — the 2014 Youth Apps Challenge — designed to raise student interest in computer science education and careers.

River HomeLink’s Moonfish Design team — Shuey Bambilla, Everett Buttars, Blake Hunt and Michael Jameson — developed a chess notation app that they are hoping to get certified by the U.S. Chess Foundation.

The Unbeatables team, also from River HomeLink — Quiara Olvera, Ty Parker, Guinevere Richmond and James Zimmerman — developed an app designed to educate seniors on using their smartphones.
