Manufacturing companies interested in training existing trades workers may qualify for training subsidies through the Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council. At SWWDC’s request, the Department of Labor has expanded the occupations that qualify for training under a federal ProStep/MISTI grant. Advanced manufacturing companies and businesses with information technology employees are encouraged to apply.

The training subsidies to improve competitiveness and productivity can be used for welders, millwrights/maintenance technicians, machine setters, operators/tenders, CNC machine tool operators/programmers, and tool and die makers. The complete list of covered occupations is available www.swwdc.org/business-resources/training.html or contact Lee Ann Lawrence, employer services manager, at llawrence@swwdc.org or 360-567-3170.
