Two people sustained serious injuries Sunday morning when an SUV rolled while taking a ramp from state Highway 500 to Interstate 205 in Vancouver.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Eric M. Gibbs, 31, of Vancouver was driving the SUV, a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada, on the ramp that connects eastbound Highway 500 to southbound I-205 when the vehicle lost control on the wet pavement and rolled multiple times, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo. The SUV came to rest on its wheels in the gore point, an area of land between the ramp and the freeway.

Gibbs and his passenger, Patricia L. Sorensen, 28, of Vancouver, were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. They were both listed in serious condition Sunday afternoon.

Gibbs and Sorensen were wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash, according to WSP.

Troopers cited Gibbs for speeding, according to the press memo.
