Investigators are looking into a house fire in Clark County’s Sunnyside neighborhood that started in multiple spots throughout the home’s first floor Friday afternoon.

A neighbor called 911 at 1:49 p.m. Friday after spotting smoke coming from the roof of the two-story house at 6208 N.E. Wilding Road, according to Sarah Mitchelson, Fire District 6 public education coordinator. The home’s alarm system also went off.

Nobody was home at the time. A bystander reported seeing the homeowner leave the house about 20 minutes before the fire was reported, Mitchelson said.

When firefighters with Fire District 6 and the Vancouver Fire Department arrived at the house near Interstate 205 and Northeast St. Johns Road, they found black smoke coming out of the attic window.

Inside, firefighters found fires started in multiple spots on the first floor, Mitchelson said.

The outside of the house did not appear to be damaged by fire.

Three Clark County fire marshals were called to the house to investigate.
