An open house to help shape Washington’s game management plan for 2015 through 2021 will begin at 7 p.m. June 24 at the Heathman Lodge, 7801 N.E. Greenwood Drive.
The plan will be used the state Department of Fish and Wildlife to develop hunting seasons and other management policies in future years, said Dave Ware, game program manager.
Key issues in the draft plan include hunter recruitment and retention, hunter access to private timber lands and possibly new rules requiring the use of non-toxic shot. The agency also will consider new proposals for managing predator-prey relationships and develop a plan for managing wolves after they are no longer listed as an endangered species.
Other meetings will be June 17 in Wenatchee, June 18 in Kennewick, June 19 in Spokane, June 25 in Lynnwood and June 26 in Olympia.
