Norcross graduates from University of Montana

Katie Norcross, a 2010 Camas High School graduate, has earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Montana.

She graduated with high honors May 17, and also received the Mortar Board Senior Recognition Award for theatre/acting.

Hathaway to serve free summer meals

Free lunches will be served again this summer at Hathaway Elementary School, 630 24th St., Washougal.

All children through 18 are eligible for the program, regardless of family income level.

Lunch will be served weekdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. from July 7 to Aug. 15. Breakfast will also be served this summer Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 9 a.m.

Food must be consumed in the cafeteria.

Liang graduates from Rice University

Horng-Ann Liang of Camas graduated May 17 from Rice University.

Liang received a master of music degree.

Comcast Foundation honors local students

The Comcast Foundation honored 65 Oregon and Southwest Washington high school seniors with $82,000 in Comcast Leaders and Achievers scholarships Saturday, May 31 at the Portland World Trade Center.

More than 150 guests attended, including 48 students.

Local students include Rebecca Dallasta from Camas High School and Sydney Hickey from Washougal High School.

Each student was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Webberley named to dean’s list

Austin Webberley of Camas has been named to the honor roll at Graceland University for the 2014 spring term.

To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn at least a 3.25 GPA.

Graceland University is a liberal arts university located in Lamoni, Iowa.

Locals named to EOU dean’s list

Elise Aiton of Washougal and Stefani Sorensen of Camas have been named to the dean’s list for winter term 2014.

Qualifying students must achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.

Choi elected president of students at WSU Vancouver

David Choi, of Washougal, was elected as president of the Associated Students of Washington State University Vancouver. Choi graduated from Washougal High School in 2012 as valedictorian.

He is studying biology with a minor in chemistry, and will graduate with his bachelor of science degree next year.

This year, Choi served as the senate chairman of campus affairs, and hopes to integrate his skills and experiences from his high school and collegiate life to better connect students to resources.

Shalee Mosley inducted into Phi Kappa Phi

Shalee Mosley of Camas was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi honor society at Oregon State University.

Mosley is among approximately 32,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.

The top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership.

Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
