The kitchen coordinator for The Meals on Wheels People Camas-Washougal plans to continue being creative, singing, dancing and traveling, while making new friends after retirement.

Alla Fleischer, 66, will retire after preparing lunch Friday, at the Camas Community Center.

She has worked for the Meals on Wheels program for more than seven years.

“I have enjoyed serving seniors, while learning there are so many special people — seniors and volunteers — who have blessed my life,” Fleischer said.

She has previously worked as a housekeeper, seamstress, library assistant, senior center office employee, jobs placement office worker and hairstylist.

Fleischer, of Washougal, is a paid employee for Meals on Wheels.

Wanda Nelson, center manager of The Meals on Wheels People Camas-Washougal, said Fleischer has worked diligently to serve seniors.

“She will be greatly missed by this agency and the folks here at the center,” Nelson said. “I will miss her.”

Complimentary cake and ice cream will be served in Fleischer’s honor Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Washougal Community Center, 1681 “C” St.

The interview process to hire a successor will begin soon, according to Nelson.

The position involves working 15 hours a week, and the application is online at www.mealsonwheelspeople.org.

Seyed Rabbanian will fill in until a cook is hired.

“Seyed is a longtime substitute here at Washougal and is known and loved,” Nelson said.
