A private high school affiliated with Vancouver First Church of God has removed its principal, Mike Brown, two weeks before the school year ends.

Voice mails left for Jeff Waldbauer, executive pastor of King’s Way Christian School, were answered with an email response from Jennifer Gilroy, assistant to the board and executive team, on behalf of Waldbauer:

“Mike Brown was relieved from service as high school principal for King’s Way on Friday, May 30. The decision to replace Mr. Brown was based on the leadership needs of our school, to address declining enrollment and its impact on the school budget, particularly at the high school level.

“No allegations of misappropriation of funds have been made against Mr. Brown. Since this is a personnel matter, however, it would be inappropriate to disclose any further information for the benefit of Mr. Brown and the King’s Way community.”

June 13 is the last day of the 2013-14 school year. The private school at 3300 N.E. 78th St. shares a campus with Vancouver First Church of God. High school enrollment was 170 on April 10. Annual tuition for high school students is $7,975. That will increase to $8,260 for the 2014-2015 school year.

“We have recruited a new high school principal for the 2014-15 school year who has verbally accepted the position,” Gilroy said.
