Skyview grad, WSU closer Ian Hamilton named freshman All-American

Skyview graduate Ian Hamilton was among Five Pac-12 freshmen named to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-America team on Wednesday.

Hamilton, Washington State’s closer, led the Pac-12 with 15 saves, a mark that ranked tied for 10th in the nation. He posted a 2.70 ERA and went 2-2 in 28 appearances in relief, recording 24 strikeouts with 12 walks over 30 innings. His 15 saves set a single-season WSU record.

Also honored were Stanford starting pitcher Cal Quantrill, Oregon starting pitcher Matt Krook, Oregon first baseman A.J. Balta, Arizona utility player Bobby Dalbec and USC designated hitter Jeremy Martinez.
