A car crashed into a power pole along Washougal River Road early Tuesday morning, leaving 1,056 customers without electricity.

The single-car crash was reported at 3:46 a.m. at 800 S.E. Washougal River Road in Washougal. Power lines and a transformer fell into the road. Oil from the transformer spilled across the road, said East County Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief Dean Thornberry. One person was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Thornberry said.

After nearly seven hours of cleanup, the road reopened around 11 a.m.

The outage ended around 6:15 a.m. for all but one Clark Public Utilities’ customer, according to spokeswoman Erica Erland. Electricity was restored to that final customer by noon
