Running club hosts first 5K event of series

One hundred runners recorded times during the first race in the Clark County Running Club’s summer series of 5-kilometer Wednesday runs.

Vancouver brothers Ahrlin Bauman (15:42) and Oscar Bauman (15:47) finished 1-2 in the race, which started and finished at David Douglas Park.

A total of 110 participants registered for the race. Results are in the Community Sports Scoreboard.

The series continues with races at 7 p.m. each Wednesday through Aug. 27. Each course is repeated for two consecutive weeks during the series so runners can compare their times.

The series returns to David Douglas Park on Wednesday. Participants should arrive at least 20 minutes before the race starts to register. Cost is $2, free for CCRC members.

La Center Lions 5K Run and Walk — A Saturday event to benefit a program that provides backpacks and school supplies for La Center students who need them, this run and walk starts at 8:30 a.m. at La Center Middle School, 700 E Fourth St.
