Washougal police on Monday arrested a 30-year-old transient accused of stealing more than $20,000 worth of metal bridge parts in east Clark County.
Paul Henry Arnold was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree theft. Washougal police Detective Kate Tierney said the charges stem from a string of daytime metal thefts in May at Acrow Bridge, a bridge engineering and supply company on Northeast Fourth Avenue in Camas.
On four occasions, surveillance footage showed a man loading metal bridge parts belonging to the company into a maroon 1989 Ford Ranger. Police identified the man in the video footage as Arnold.
Washougal officers found Arnold inside his pickup at the Port of Camas-Washougal, where he was arrested without incident.
