Three men sustained injuries in separate motorcycle crashes over the weekend in Southwest Washington.

Gary Campbell Jr., 52, of Vancouver was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in a Life Flight helicopter Saturday after his motorcycle left a southbound lane of Interstate 5 shortly before 5 p.m. in Kelso.

Campbell was driving a 2006 red Yamaha XV19, which veered off the freeway and hit a guardrail and a cable barrier, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. The crash occurred just south of exit 39.

A few hours later, a Battle Ground man was hurt in a motorcycle crash on state Highway 503 when his bike left the roadway, struck a dirt embankment and came to rest on the right shoulder, according to a WSP news release.

Troopers say the man, Travis Lemarr, 37, was driving a black Kawasaki Ninja 1000 south on the highway, about 14 miles north of Battle Ground, when the crash occurred at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday.

Lemarr also was transported to PeaceHealth.

Both men, who were wearing helmets when they crashed, were in satisfactory condition Sunday afternoon.

WSP is investigating the incidents.

At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, officials said, a 25-year-old man sustained serious injuries when his westbound motorcycle collided head-on with a Nissan Maxima between Salmon Creek and Brush Prairie.

The crash, on Northeast 159th Street near the intersection of 75th Court, is under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, said Tim Dawdy, spokesman for Clark County Fire & Rescue.

Dawdy said EMTs with CCF&R responded to the crash, and the motorcycle driver was transported to PeaceHealth. Although the man’s injuries were serious, they did not appear life-threatening, Dawdy said.

“This time of year the weather’s nice” and more motorcycles are on the road, he said. “We just urge drivers to be extra cautious and always look out for motorcycles.”

Dawdy said he could not release the name of the man injured.
