Esther Short — You could give Tom Jackson a hand for winning the Recycled Arts Festival sculpture contest, but he’s already got one. A big one.
Jackson, a mechanic and metal fabricator who operates Real Mechanical Inc., received the most votes during the June 28-29 festival for his metal sculpture of a giant open hand.
“It’s In Your Hand” was crafted from more than 2,000 pieces of scrap metal from old cars, appliances and other items, according to a press release.
Nearly 1,000 votes were cast in the contest that featured 15 artists.
