For the sixth consecutive year, CrossFit Fort Vancouver will be represented at the CrossFit Games, an international fitness competition that takes place Wednesday through Sunday.
Most of the competition takes place at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
CrossFit Fort Vancouver will participate in the team competition for the sixth time. CrossFit Fort Vancouver won the Affiliate Cup world championship at the 2010 CrossFit Games, and finished fourth in that competition last season.
This year three individuals from the gym will compete in masters divisions as individuals. Nathan Loren and Jerome Perryman, who were members of the team the previous four years, qualified for the Games in the division for men ages 40-44. Dawn Sibilia will compete in the division for women ages 45-49.
The masters divisions individual contests run Tuesday through Thursday.
The team competition runs Wednesday through Sunday, with one or two events a day. The competition expanded from three days to five this year.
“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to be tested over a longer number of days,” said Adam Neiffer, the CrossFit Fort Vancouver owner and team captain.
CrossFit Fort Vancouver qualified second from the Northwest regional, behind CrossFit Marysville of Marysville, Wash.
Four members of the CrossFit Fort Vancouver team — including all three women — are returnees from the team that finished fourth at the 2013 CrossFit Games. In addition to Neiffer, Jessica Core of Vancouver and Portland residents Andrea Roozen and Erin Taylor return from last season. Two new men on the team are Vancouver residents Bryan Weed and Allan Dunlap.
Television coverage of the CrossFit games will include programs on ESPN from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday and 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, and on ESPN2 from 5-6 p.m. on Sunday.
