History buffs on Sunday showcased the tools used in Clark County during the 19th and 20th centuries, including a steam tractor with 10 horsepower.
Lester Schurman and Ben Scofield maneuvered the 1910 Garscott tractor through the grounds of the Rural Heritage Fair in Ridgefield. Mike Fairchild demonstrated how to make a rope at the fair, and Ryan Tremble fashioned a wooden handle. Charlie Davis used a 1947 Mercury chain saw to cut through a log.
The 20th annual public event was hosted by the Fort Vancouver Antique Equipment Association on Saturday and Sunday at Schurman’s Iron Ranch. The fair also featured live blacksmithing demonstrations, classic cars, fire engines, children’s activities and a swap meet.
