Area’s leader honored for work

Wildwood — Claire Jurkovich has logged more than 560 hours as a volunteer for Neighbors On Watch, the Vancouver police auxiliary organization, and has helped recover more than 75 stolen vehicles. She’s also part of a network that hunts for missing children and vulnerable adults. And, Jurkovich is the lead organizer of the annual Wildwood Neighborhood Association garage sale. She has been the Wildwood chairwoman and for many years was the only active board member — essentially a one-woman show. For all that, the Wildwood Neighborhood Association has honored Jurkovich with a Vancouver Sparkles award.
