A series of Oregon Department of Transportation maintenance projects on the Interstate 5 Bridge will cause intermittent bridge lifts and lane closures this month.
Crews will grease cables overnight Friday and Saturday, causing periodic bridge lifts of up to 20 minutes on both the southbound and northbound spans, according to ODOT. The lifts will occur between 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, then again between 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.
Other maintenance work, including inspections, electrical work and pothole repairs, will lead to lane closures on the northbound side of the bridge the following weekend, according to ODOT. The right and center lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, July 18, to 8 a.m. Saturday, July 19. The center and left lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday, July 19, to 8 a.m. Sunday, July 20.
The onramp from Hayden Island in Portland to northbound Interstate 5 will also be closed both nights, according to ODOT.
