BRUSH PRAIRIE — Homeowners with gravity-fed septic systems can save money by becoming certified to inspect and maintain their own systems at a septic inspection workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. July 31 at the Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie.

The cost is $15 per household.

Following the workshop, homeowners will take a short exam.

Homeowners who pass the exam can perform their next septic inspection and file it with Clark County Public Health rather than hire a certified professional. Current regulations require homeowners on gravity-fed septic systems to have their tank inspected every three years.

The workshop is presented by WSU Clark County Extension’s Small Acreage Program and co-sponsored by WSU Clark County Extension and Clark County Environmental Services Clean Water Program.
