Weather Eye: Holiday should see pleasant weather that’s worth celebrating

Happy Fourth of July! — a little early, of course. It will not be a hot Fourth, weather wise anyway, with lots of clouds and sunny afternoons through the weekend.

Today will be the cloudiest, with late clearing and hopefully clear and sunny by the evening. Only in the 70s today. The holiday weekend looks like varying degrees of morning clouds and sunny afternoons with highs 75 to 80 degrees. Just about perfect I would say.

There may be a cool northwest breeze after dark for the fireworks so be prepared for that. There may be some drizzle on the coast at times, especially Sunday, and a few very light showers there and north toward Seattle.

Looking ahead to next week we will enjoy warmer afternoon temperatures and more sun, even at the beaches. Highs will be in the 80s for the most part. No rain or hot weather. Perfect summertime fun in the great Northwest.

Did you like that mini-heatwave Tuesday? Man, once the sun rose and those easterly winds kicked in the thermometer went up like crazy. We almost made 100 degrees officially but when it tops out at 98 or 99 degrees can you really tell the difference between that and 100 degrees? Hot is hot.

The overnight low Tuesday night was on the warm side if you didn’t have air conditioning. It was still 80 degrees at 11 p.m. Unusual for us. Thank goodness it didn’t last. Will that be our hottest high temperature this summer? Anything is possible.
