Clark County — Samantha Schmidt represented Clark County this month as a finalist at the annual Washington State Dairy Ambassador Coronation in Everett.

It’s the 59th year of the program, which crowns an ambassador to represent the Dairy Farmers of Washington for the year — at fairs, schools and before the legislature. Janis DeJager from Everson was chosen to be the 2014-15 ambassador.

Ambassadors typically make about 400 public appearances a year, according to the Washington State Dairy Women, which oversees the program. Her alternates are Marissa Apperson, from Rochester, and Marcy Bartelheimer, from Snohomish. Along with Clark County’s Schmidt, other finalists in the running were Mikel Levi, from Snohomish County, and Katie Hutchins, from Yakima Valley.
