White Salmon — An online discussion this month will invite people to share their goals and priorities for the lower White Salmon River as part of an ongoing restoration effort, according to the Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group.
The “online meeting” comes as advocates and residents craft a fish habitat conservation strategy for the lower 6 miles of the river. The effort kicked off in earnest with a community meeting in May.
Participants can participate in the online discussion any time through July 20 at the Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group website, www.midcolumbiarfeg.com.
The lower White Salmon River changed dramatically after the Condit Dam was breached in 2011, then removed in 2012. Many groups have convened to discuss the future of the newly free-flowing river.
