Four employees at a Ridgefield cabinet manufacturing business were taken to an area hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation injuries after a machine caught fire Monday morning.
A machine that coats wood with a water-based lacquer caught fire about 6:20 a.m. at Pacific Crest Custom Cabinetry, 5901 S. 11th St., about 6:20 a.m.
Employees extinguished the blaze using 13 fire extinguishers prior to firefighters arriving, according to Clark County Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy.
Medics treated four employees for smoke inhalation and transported them to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for evaluation, Dawdy said.
Firefighters checked for fire extension and ventilated smoke from the building.
