Fire destroyed a single-story house in west Vancouver and displaced a family of three early Saturday morning.
The fire was reported at 12:20 a.m. at 3113 Watson Ave. in the city’s Fourth Plain Village neighborhood. Upon arrival, firefighters with the Vancouver Fire Department found a fully-involved fire. All of the occupants got out of the house.
Although the fire started in the kitchen, investigators have ruled out cooking as a potential cause, said Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli. Preliminary findings indicate that it was an electrical fire.
The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office estimates $200,000 damage.
The Red Cross provided housing, food, clothing, comfort kits and information about disaster mental health and disaster health services for two adults and a child who were displaced by the fire.
According to county property records, the home was a rental unit built in 1971.
