Skyview had the best bowler, but Battle Ground had the best team — again.

Skyview’s Madison Crockett, the defending 4A state champion, rolled to a district title at the Class 4A district bowling championships at Crosley Lanes.

Crockett bowled games of 180, 224 and 210 for a 614 series to win the individual title over Battle Ground’s Kim Martin (597) and Wylicia Faley (592).

But Martin and Faley could celebrate another team title for the Tigers.

Battle Ground tallied 4,101 pins to easily capture the team title. Heritage was second at 3,718 and will be heading to the state tournament next weekend in Tacoma. Battle Ground is the two-time defending Class 4A state team champion. Faley won the 4A individual state title as a sophomore in 2012.

The top two teams, plus the next four individual bowlers not on the top two teams advance to state. Joining Crockett at state will be Allyson Brown of Union, Caitlynn Hayes of Skyview and Shelby Chartrand of Camas.

Columbia River captured the 3A/2A district championship by outdistancing Fort Vancouver 3,915-3,816. R.A. Long (3,741) was third. The top 3 3A/2A teams go to state, along with the next six individuals.

Mark Morris’ Caitlyn Helmes won the individual title at 637 over Fort’s Tamika Taylor (633). Joining Helmes at state will be Mountain View’s Alex Lanning and Joy Yuzuriha, Dakota Varela of Hudson’s Bay, Kelso’s Michaela West and River Ridge’s Rachel Bittner.
