Marion Lilly of the Columbia River girls basketball team was voted The Columbian’s high school winter sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Jan. 22.
Lilly collected 43 percent of the 1,552 votes cast by fans to beat out Tyler Barton of Hudson’s Bay boys basketball, who had 42 percent.Lilly averaged 14.3 points over three games (all wins), including the game-winning basket against Ridgefield.
The other nominees were Tiffany Becker of Mountain View bowling, Kasey Calwell of Camas swimming and Nicole Moss of Heritage gymnastics.
Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.
Athletes may be elected player of the week once during the regular season, and no athlete can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
