Wednesday’s weather panned out about as expected with some rain and blustery winds and milder temperatures. The high of 54 degrees was the warmest since Jan. 13, when we had a high of 55 degrees. Rainfall for Tuesday and Wednesday was right on target as of 5 p.m. Wednesday with one-half inch here in the city, with greater amounts in the foothills.
Freezing levels were dropping late Wednesday and several inches of snow were expected at pass levels with the snow level the next few days at 2,000 feet or lower. That means our foothills to the east and the higher coastal mountain peaks may see a bit of white. Amounts of rain or snow will be on the lighter side the next couple of days.
Looking into next week we remain on the dry side of things with seasonal temperatures at least through Wednesday. As things dry out I expect overnight lows of freezing or below this weekend and into next week, so more frost on the horizon. Beyond that, some forecast models want to bring colder air and very low snow levels. We always have the weather eye out for that but no worry at this point.
The rainfall amounts of the current “wet streak” were disappointing, but we take all we can get. I would expect another quarter- to one-half inch of rain in some places by the weekend so we will temporarily whittle away at our deficit.
