RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have removed goaltender Cam Ward from injured reserve and assigned him to their American Hockey League affiliate for a conditioning stint.

Ward has missed the last 13 games with a lower-body injury. The Hurricanes’ all-time leader in games played by a goaltender, wins and shutouts will join the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers in Cleveland ahead of the team’s game against Lake Erie on Friday.

The 29-year-old Ward is 6-7-5 this year with a 3.15 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage in 19 games this year.
