Regional transportation officials have called off tonight’s planned closure and relocation of northbound Interstate 205 in Salmon Creek due to weather.
Instead, the work will be moved to Wednesday night, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Crews will close the freeway at Northeast 134th Street from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, according to WSDOT. During the closure, workers will shift the northbound side of I-205 40 feet to the east. The realignment will make room for a new bridge and interchange at Northeast 139th Street as part of the $133 million Salmon Creek Interchange Project.
The closure won’t affect southbound traffic.
WSDOT is planning three more overnight closures of I-205 to install bridge girders over the northbound lanes. That work is scheduled to happen in February, according to the agency.
This week’s work is weather-dependent, and may need to be rescheduled again, according to WSDOT. The entire project is expected to wrap up by the end of this year.
