African group gets kids moving

Washougal — Hathaway Elementary School students danced to sounds from West Africa during a Jan. 15 visit from the Obo Addy Legacy Project. The group of musicians and dancers from Ghana performed for the kids during an assembly meant to offer insight into African culture and its influences on this country. A few children and staff were invited into a dance circle, but by the end of the performance, most of the students were on their feet. The Hathaway Boosters helped bring the group to the school. “It was an amazing experience,” said Principal Laura Bolt in a press release.
