Bruce Campbell has mixed feelings when it comes to accessibility.
The actor, who was our cover boy for Friday’s “Weekend” entertainment guide, said he moved to Southern Oregon because it’s so isolated.
“When I first came here, I went backpacking for like a week, and I didn’t see anybody,” Campbell said in a phone interview. “I just fell in love with it.”
But the star of the “Evil Dead” films and TV’s “Burn Notice” also likes interacting with fans.
Twitter is a way to balance that isolationist streak while still telling his fans what he’s up to.
“I look at it as my television station,” said Campbell, who tweets as @GroovyBruce.
He can get a little snarky, Campbell admits. He stays away from topics like politics and religion, but lots of things are fair game.
“If someone has horrible grammar, I’ve been known to make fun of that,” Campbell said. “I think I got my sense of humor from my dad. He appreciated a good joke.”
One night at a comedy club, “He got caught stealing jokes from Rodney Dangerfield: He was writing it on a napkin. Rodney Dangerfield made fun of him for about a half hour. He still winces.”
Bear with it
Before his weekend appearance at the Wizard World Portland comic convention, the Jacksonville, Ore., resident mentioned that a bear had been messing with his garbage.
It could have been worse, Campbell said. At least it wasn’t a tabloid reporter.
