HOUSTON (AP) — Dre Evans scored 17 points, making all three 3-point attempts, as Southeastern Louisiana came back to take a 60-52 win over Houston Baptist Saturday night.
Houston Baptist (4-16, 1-7 Southland)held a 30-25 halftime advantage and led 43-36 with 11:48 remaining in the game when Southeastern Louisiana (9-10, 4-4) went on a 9-1 run to take its first lead of the second half, 45-44, with 8:35 left. Evans sparked the run with a jump shot, a 3-pointer and a layup. The Huskies closed to 47-46 following two free throws by Reveal Chuckwujekwu with 5:17 remaining.
JaMichael Hawkins, who totaled 15 points, followed with two free throws as the Lions stretched their lead.
The Lions outrebounded HBU 41-33
Chuckwujekwu led HBU with a career-high 12 points while pulling down 8 rebounds. Cody Joyce added 10 points.
