BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Tim Kempton and Justin Goldsborough each scored 19 points as Lehigh held on for a 71-68 victory over Lafayette Saturday night.
Lehigh (10-11, 3-5 Patriot League) led 66-62 following a layup by Goldsborough with 1:52 remaining. Joey Ptasinski, who had 13 points, answered with a 3-pointer to pull Lafayette within one. Mackey McKnight, who had nine assists, made four free throws in the final 25 seconds to seal the victory for Lehigh.
Lafayette (4-15, 0-8) held a 34-33 halftime advantage and led 42-35 with 17:13 remaining. Austin Price made a 3-point jumper with 12:50 left to give Lehigh a 49-46 lead. The Leopards came within one five times but could never retake the lead.
Lehigh won the battle in the paint 34 to 28.
Dan Trist led Lafayette with 16 points and Bryce Scott added 14.
