OLUMPIA — The state Department of Natural Resources is accepting nominations for lands to be included in Washington’s Community Forest Trust program.

Nominations must be submitted by June 2, according to DNR. The nomination form is available online at www.dnr.wa.gov, under the “News” heading. People may also contact Andrew Hayes by phone at 360-902-1347 or email at andrew.hayes@dnr.wa.gov.

The Community Forest Trust was established in 2011 as a way to protect working forestland and keep it in forest use. The first such forest was established just north of Cle Elum in 2013.

Forestland in the Community Forest Trust is held by the state and sustainably managed by DNR, according to the agency.
