Trevor Jasinsky made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left, lifting Camas to a key victory in the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League boys basketball race.
Jasinsky scored six of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter, helping Camas improve to 3-3 in the 4A GSHL.
Skyview fell to fifth place at 2-4.
The top four teams in the six-team league will advance to the district playoffs. There are four league games remaining in the season.
Freshman Jake Hansel’s 3-pointer to open the scoring in the fourth quarter tied the game for Camas. Brandon Nguyen then made two free throws to give the Papermakers a 42-40 lead.
The game was then tied at 42, 46, and 48 down the stretch.
Skyview’s Tyler Hoffman made 2 of 3 free throws with 1:18 left in the game to tie it at 46.
Jasinsky would work the baseline for a layup for Camas. Then Skyview’s Marcus Lord got behind the Camas press defense to tie the game with 44 seconds remaining.
Camas would work the shot clock down before Jasinsky’s missed a 3-pointer. He got his own rebound, though, and Camas called a timeout. The Papermakers ran an inbound play for Jasinsky, who was fouled.
Skyview’s desperation half-court shot was off the mark.
The Storm held Camas to five second-quarter points. Hoffman and Jason Chaney each made two 3-pointers for the Storm in the period, giving Skyview a 29-27 lead at the break.
Hoffman would finish with 14 points to lead the Storm. Chaney scored 11 points.
Skyview took a seven-point lead late into the third quarter before Jasinsky and James Price scored to make a three-point game going to the final period.
