LONG BEACH — Razor clam digging resumes Wednesday on the Long Beach Peninsula and continues through Feb. 2.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed the digging dates after marine toxin tests indicated the clams are safe to eat.

Low tide will be -1.2 feet at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, -1.4 feet at 6:11 p.m. Thursday, -1.4 feet at 6:55 p.m. Friday, -1.0 feet at 7:38 p.m. Saturday and -0.5 feet at 8:20 p.m. Sunday.

“The surf has calmed down and we have some excellent low tides this time around,” said Dan Ayres, coastal shellfish manager for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. “Success rates should be much improved during the next opener.”

Digging is allowed only between noon and midnight in fall and winter seasons.

Diggers can take 15 razor clams per day but must keep the first 15 dug. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container.

An annual razor clam license costs $13. A three-day clam license costs $8.60. An annual combination fishing-shellfish license costs $54.25.

Washington’s recreational licenses operate on an April-through-March annual cycle.
