Austin Wright of the Evergreen boys wrestling team was voted The Columbian’s high school winter athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Jan. 18.
Wright collected 43 percent of the 805 votes cast by fans to beat out Jamie Ford of Battle Ground boys basketball, who had 35 percent.
Wright was named outstanding wrestler in the upper weight classes after beating Tyler Dady for the 285-pound title at the Clark County Championships.
The other nominees were Lexi Bottomley of Prairie gymnastics, Ben Grubb of Columbia River swimming and Sierra Joner of Battle Ground girls wrestling.
