The condition of a Vancouver woman hurt in an early Tuesday morning crash has improved.
Ashley Gumbel, 28, is in serious condition at the intensive care unit of PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. She was listed in critical condition following Tuesday’s crash, in which police say she drove her 1997 Dodge Intrepid through a red light at a high rate of speed and crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu.
At the time of the collision, 2 a.m., the Malibu’s driver was attempting a left turn from Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard onto Andresen Road.
The two occupants of the Malibu were taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released. The crash was witnessed by a Vancouver police officer.
Vancouver police have not made any arrests or issued any citations in the crash, but they continue to investigate its cause. Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the agency, said investigators are waiting for a toxicology report.
