It looked like a broken play at first.
With four seconds remaining and the game tied, Camas coach Skyler Gillispie drew up a plan.
The inbound pass in the frontcourt went to guard Brandon Nguyen near the sideline, but Battle Ground’s defenders swarmed.
Nguyen, however, took one dribble and heaved up a 23-foot contested shot. The 3-pointer went in as the buzzer sounded.
It was a stroke of good luck for Camas (2-3). Its three GSHL losses have been by no more than nine points.
“It’s a big win for us,” Gillispie said. “We’ve competed in a lot of our games but fallen a bit short. We’re happy to get the money off our back.”
Trevor Jasinsky led all scorers with 21 points. He had 19 at halftime as Camas built a 33-25 lead.
Nate Moring had 12 points to lead Battle Ground (3-2).
