SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Jarmar Gulley tied a career high with 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Missouri State edged Evansville 64-61 on Tuesday.

Ron Mvouika made two free throws with 29 seconds left to put Missouri State (13-6, 3-4 Missouri Valley Conference) up 63-60. After Evansville (9-11, 2-5) failed to score on the other end, the Bears missed the front end of two one-and-one attempts.

Evansville’s D.J. Balentine made 1 of 2 free throws with less than five seconds to play. The Bears held on as Dorrian Williams hit 1 of 2 free throws at the other end for Missouri State and Balentine’s half-court shot attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.

Christian Kirk joined Gulley in double figures with 11 points.
