A man was arrested Thursday after a high-speed chase that started in Cascade Locks, Ore., and ended in a brief standoff on the Washington side of the Columbia River in North Bonneville.
The pursuit began just before 11:30 p.m. when a deputy with the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office reportedly tried to stop a 1992 Toyota pickup that was driving erratically.
The pickup accelerated away from the deputy, traveling at speeds that exceeded 85 mph, and crossed the Bridge of the Gods into Skamania County, according to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle continued west on state Highway 14, where a Skamania County sheriff’s deputy joined the pursuit, according to authorities.
