Some solid defense in the third quarter made the difference on Monday as the Skyview Storm held off visiting Heritage 61-53 in a Class 4A Greater St. Helens League game.
The Storm outscored the Timberwolves 14-7 in the third quarter to build a 10-point lead.
“I thought Heritage played harder than us most of the game,” Skyview coach Matt Gruhler said. “In the third quarter we did turn up the defense a little bit. But they kept coming.”
Ben Spies had 21 points and five rebounds for Skyview.
For Heritage, Mark Bejan and Jalen Gage each scored 15 points. The Timberwolves hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter, which ended with the Storm up 20-17. Heritage (0-15, 0-5) finished with six 3-pointers.Tyler Hoffman had six assists for Skyview (6-9, 2-3). Jason Cheney had nine points and four steals, and Marcus Lord led the Storm in rebounds with six.
