WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Andrew Nicholas hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final seconds and Monmouth reversed a large second half deficit in beating Canisius 83-82 on Sunday.

Monmouth (9-10, 3-5 Metro Atlantic) trailed Canisius 82-77 with 14.4 seconds remaining when Nicholas hit his first long ball to make it 82-80. Monmouth immediately fouled Canisius and Billy Baron missed the front end of a 1-and-1 setting up Nicholas’ game-winning trey with 1 second left.

Canisius (12-7, 6-2) led at half 36-28 and trailed Monmouth only once in the period, 5-3. Canisius expanded the lead to 14 points in the second half before Monmouth mounted its comeback effort.

Monmouth scored 55 points in the second half and Nicholas led Hawk scorers with 28 points while grabbing six rebounds.

Baron, who averages 23.2 points per game, scored 21 points for Canisius while Deon Jones pulled in 11 rebounds.
