LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kyle Boswell scored 14 points and recorded a career-high eight assists as UC Santa Barbara beat Cal State Northridge 79-69 Saturday night.
UCSB (11-5, 2-1 Big West) jumped out to a 15-5 lead just over 7 minutes into the game and, although the Matadors battled back into the game, they never fully recovered.
The Gauchos took a 34-28 advantage into the break before Northridge opened the second half with an 11-2 run to take a 39-36 lead with 17:59 to play. UCSB responded with a 13-0 run and CSUN (10-9, 2-2) never got closer than down six again.
Alan Williams led the Gauchos with 16 points while Michael Bryson added 15 on 6-of-8 shooting. Taran Brown and Sam Beeler added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Josh Green paced the Matadors with 27 points. Stephen Maxwell finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
